CALL FOR SHORT PLAYS
Culture*Park announces a call for entries for the 9th Annual Short Plays Marathon, scheduled for Saturday, November 20, 2010, in the New Bedford Whaling Museum Theater, 18 Johnny Cake Hill, in downtown New Bedford, MA.
Please note the following guidelines for play submission.
There are a few changes of note from previous year's guidelines:
Only one play submission per playwright will be read;
there is no longer a submission fee;
playwright must be available to attend the Marathon:
> Plays should be 15 pages/minutes or fewer in length.
> Please, one play submission per playwright.
> Please submit one hard copy and one electronic copy. The play will be read upon receipt of both.
> Playwright must confirm availability to attend the Marathon and participate in a brief panel discussion.
> Include a cover page with playwright name and contact info.
> Include a brief synopsis of the play > Include character breakdown information.
> Deadline for submission is 10/1/10
> Plays with regional (New England) or local themes and references are welcome, though not required. (Plays with New Bedford themes will be highlighted.) All plays will be considered. New writers are welcome. For the second year, there will be a 'student' segment, with selected plays by regional High School & College/University students. Guidelines will be sent to area institutions. Students may submit on their own, as well.
> Up to 20 plays will be selected (with up to 5 from the student category), and will be presented as staged readings by an ensemble of actors and directors on Saturday, November 20, at Gallery X, in downtown New Bedford.

Culture*Park Theatre is a collaborative of theatre and performing artists and entities that supports the production and development of new works in theatre and dance, especially those with regional and culturally provocative themes. C*P presents an annual Short Plays Marathon of new works many of which have moved on to further development, and festivals.
