june 12 THE VILLAGE AND THE FISHING NETA story dance featuring Children's Dance Ensemble of New Bedford Artistic Director, Joan Thomas-Mello The Village and the Fishing Net is a story dance, which centers on an abandoned fishing net, brought back to the village, repaired and set to use again. The skill of the fishers, as well as, the luck of the fishing net is portrayed through movement, as the fishers return from sea with their bounty enough for the entire village. Part factual, part fantasy, the story incorporates ideas from fishing stories and situations from the real life out at sea experience. The Village and the Fishing Net tells the story of the fisherman's plight, the struggle of the ocean and the beauty of the fishing net as seen through the eyes of children. Performance: Saturday, June 12, 2pm at the New Bedford Whaling Museum, Jacobs Gallery. Admission is free
