MONOLOGUE / AUDITION

FRED CABRAL > Actor, New York

The monologue class will focus on performance and audition techniques. Students should provide a 1 to 3 minute piece taken from contemporary or classical sources and should be familiar enough with the material to present it before the group. The workshop will be result oriented with the goal to create performer confidence and self-direction. It will encourage a creative approach in determining the objectives in solo speeches and provide the correct circumstances in which to create a “here and now” scenario in monologue presentation. If time allows, material will be provided, so that the class can experiment with cold monologue readings and apply some of the methods presented in the workshop.

Fred Cabral is a native of New Bedford who has lived and worked in New York as a theatre professional for the past 17 years. He has appeared off Broadway in dozens of productions, most recently in “Widow’s Blind Date”, with the March Theater Group in Chelsea. A graduate of Trinity Rep Conservatory. Fred has a degree in music education from U Mass Lowell and has taught theater and music in New York, regionally, and internationally.
